Our POE managed smart switch has 28 ports (24-1 Meg 4-1 Ghtz ports) of POE at 17 watts each conforming to 802.3af industry standard.
POE (Power Over Ethernet) Has more advantages than not having one extra cord to the phone or using an extra 110V outlet at each desk. First, by using a POE switch, you can use a centrally located UPS for battery back-up to keep phones running when the power goes out. What's more, by using a POE device, paging speakers, Door phones, access points and ip cameras can be powered without either running an additional cable for power or 110v and a bulky power supply at each location. Additionally, most phones require the purchase of power supplys individually so that the cost of POE is cheaper than with individual power supplys and a good quality, non POE switch. Lastly the POE switch is smart and able to be remotely managed. If we needed to power off and restart all the phones for a software upgrade, let's say. With POE, we simply restart the POE switch as opposed to having to go onsite and unplugging and plugging in power at each and every phone.
